End of the 33-day Lebanon-Israel war with the defeat of Israel in 2006
Israel declared war on Lebanon in response to the operation.
The Israeli army immediately took action to save the lives of the two captured soldiers, which eventually killed five other Israeli soldiers, wounded five others and wounded five civilians. Hezbollah called the operation a “fair response.”
War events
The Israeli army lost 121 soldiers during the war. In addition, 44 Israeli citizens were killed when more than 4,000 Lebanese Hezbollah rockets hit Israeli territory. Hezbollah has also announced the number of its martyred fighters as about 50.
Furthermore, 1,200 Lebanese citizens were martyred during the Zionist regime bombing.
Finally, on July 16, 2008, the bodies of two abducted Israeli soldiers, who had been abducted following a Lebanese Hezbollah guerrilla operation known as the “True Promise” on the Israeli-Lebanese border, were found with five Lebanese prisoners. Including Samir Qantar (who was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of an Israeli family) and the bodies of 199 Palestinian and Lebanese Mujahid were exchanged.
Seyed Hassan Nasrallah said at the end of this war:
The international community ended the war not for the sake of Lebanon, but for the sake of keeping Israel in danger of extinction.
