Hezbollah called the operation a &#8220;fair response.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>War events<br \/>\nThe Israeli army lost 121 soldiers during the war. In addition, 44 Israeli citizens were killed when more than 4,000 Lebanese Hezbollah rockets hit Israeli territory. Hezbollah has also announced the number of its martyred fighters as about 50.<br \/>\nFurthermore, 1,200 Lebanese citizens were martyred during the Zionist regime bombing.<br \/>\nFinally, on July 16, 2008, the bodies of two abducted Israeli soldiers, who had been abducted following a Lebanese Hezbollah guerrilla operation known as the &#8220;True Promise&#8221; on the Israeli-Lebanese border, were found with five Lebanese prisoners.
